Volunteer Commitment

All volunteer coaches at First Pres Church have committed to the FPC: Coaches Code of Conduct and CLBBY: Coaches Code of Contact which is published below for all participants to see.

I will communicate key information to the parent(s) of my players.
I will try to problem solve and avoid complaints from parents on my team or opposing teams. I will be a good role model to the players on my team.
I will complete paperwork for the church-required background check.
I will not contact the CLBBY league director, Gene Hawkins, directly by text, email, or phone.
All comments, questions, forfeits, complaints, challenges should be routed to Nancy Crain, David Seaver, or Lisa Anderson.
I will read and abide by the league rules and be familiar with them before the start of the season.
I will remove myself from heated conversations at the gym and will not argue with refs, parents, opponents over petty things.
I will remember at all times that I am a representative of First Pres and that, “This is church basketball.”

Violations

First Offense w/in a season – warning
Second Offense w/in a season – sit out 1 game
Third Offense w/in a season – sit out from coaching for 12 months

CLBBY: Coaches Code of Conduct

I will place the emotional & physical wellbeing of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional & physical development for the age group.
I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.
I promise to review & practice basic first aid principles needed to treat the injuries of my players.
I will do my best to organize practices that are fun & challenging for all of my players.
I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play & sportsmanship to all my players.
I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free of drugs, tobacco, & alcohol, & I will refrain from their use at all youth sports events.
I will be knowledgeable in the rules of the sports that I coach in addition to the rules of CLBBY & will teach these rules to my players.
I will use the coaching techniques appropriate for all of the skills that I teach.
I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, & that the game is for children & not for adults.
I will be a positive, strong, Christian role model for the children for which I am coaching.
